2016國際中華小姐競選 Miss Chinese International Pageant 2016 - Sophia Wu (巫雪菲)

Before the beginning of Miss Chinese International Pageant 2016, several contestants were regarded as hot favorites.

#3 Louisa Mak (麥明詩) from Hong Kong
#4 Sophia Wu (巫雪菲) from Nanjing
#9 Mary Chen (陳舒菲) from New York
#14 Jennifer Coosemans (朱亞琳) from Vancouver

Louisa Mak was a favorite probably because of home ground advantage. Jennifer Coosemans and Mary Chen were good but are more western oriented type who can’t speak Cantonese and Mandarin. It looks like Sophia Wu (巫雪菲) from Nanjing has got all the fine and exceptional quality of a Miss Chinese to take the crown except TVB is known to take China contestants less favorably.

When the official portrait comes to the screen, Sophia Wu (巫雪菲) has already captured my heart.

SEGMENT 1 - EVENING GOWN: Sophia Wu (巫雪菲) first’s catwalk on stage was beautiful.

After the evening gown catwalk, the contestant come out for scoring as groups.

From these 5 contestants, you could clearly sees Sophia Wu (巫雪菲) stands out above the rest, but the highest point was #2 Mint Kongraphan (陳思敏) from Bangkok, followed by #3 Louisa Mak (麥明詩) from Hong Kong and then #4 Sophia Wu (巫雪菲) from Nanjing. I can’t believe Louisa Mak (麥明詩) got better points than Sophia Wu (巫雪菲). I mean, I like Louisa Mak (麥明詩) too, but she was a bit nervous.

On the last group, the top scorer was #14 Jennifer Coosemans (朱亞琳) from Vancouver followed by #12 Tiana Luan (欒添) from Sydney.

#14 Jennifer Coosemans (朱亞琳) from Vancouver got the highest score, followed by #12 Tiana Luan (欒添) from Sydney. #2 Mint Kongraphan (陳思敏) from Bangkok, #3 Louisa Mak (麥明詩) from Hong Kong and #4 Sophia Wu (巫雪菲) from Nanjing almost has the same scores. Sophia Wu (巫雪菲) is in the running for top 5.

SEGMENT 2 CULTURAL COSTUME - The second part of the show is about homeland cultural dress. Instead of having some funny costume, Sophia Wu (巫雪菲) dressed elegantly in a blue Qipao with a fan on her hand. Exceptional hourglass figure woman can carry traditional Chinese Qipao in a nice way. Qipao is good, after all she represents China. She did a great interview.

SEGMENT 2 group 1 points sees #2 Mint Kongraphan (陳思敏) from Bangkok maintaining the lead followed by now #4 Sophia Wu (巫雪菲) from Nanjing over taking home ground contestant #3 Louisa Mak (麥明詩) from Hong Kong.

In group 2, #9 Mary Chen (陳舒菲) from New York is leading the pack.

In group 3, #14 Jennifer Coosemans (朱亞琳) from Vancouver continues to lead.

Comparing with the last segment, #4 Sophia Wu (巫雪菲) has already eliminated #3 Louisa Mak (麥明詩) from Hong Kong and #9 Mary Chen (陳舒菲) from New York is advancing to top 5. #14 Jennifer Coosemans (朱亞琳) from Vancouver has always been expected to be in the top 3. #12 Tiana Luan (欒添) from Sydney and #2 Mint Kongraphan (陳思敏) from Bangkok were two unexpected contestants occupying the top spots. I say go Sophia Wu (巫雪菲)! Sophia Wu (巫雪菲)! They need a Miss Chinese who look like a Chinese and speaks like a Chinese.

SEGMENT 3 SWIMSUIT AND Q&A: Sophia Wu (巫雪菲) with Hourglass Body.

SEGMENT 3 is about swimsuits and Q&A. Contestants comes out in pairs. #3 Louisa Mak (麥明詩) from Hong Kong and #4 Sophia Wu (巫雪菲) from Nanjing comes out together. In a side by side comparison, it is clear #4 Sophia Wu (巫雪菲) will lead.

Segment 3 round group 1 points sees #2 Mint Kongraphan (陳思敏) from Bangkok maintaining the lead followed by and also followed by #4 Sophia Wu (巫雪菲) from Nanjing. #3 Louisa Mak (麥明詩) from Hong Kong is done. It just breaks my heart to see #2 Mint Kongraphan (陳思敏) from Bangkok always leading #4 Sophia Wu (巫雪菲).

In group 2, #9 Mary Chen (陳舒菲) from New York continue to lead the pack.

In group 3, #14 Jennifer Coosemans (朱亞琳) from Vancouver continues to lead again.

As a fan and supporter of #4 Sophia Wu (巫雪菲), I felt intense as she battles to take down #3 Louisa Mak (麥明詩) from Hong Kong and #2 Mint Kongraphan (陳思敏) from Bangkok has always been over her and then #9 Mary Chen (陳舒菲) from New York is closing in.

TOP 5 ANNOUNCEMENT

To me, this is the most intense moment ever in the pageant. So far all the points revealed are from the female judges. Now, the male judges points will be included to make up the final top 5 finalist. Male judges will probably find #4 Sophia Wu (巫雪菲) incredibly beautiful and may even drop some of the current top 3 selected by the female judges. They put the top 3 contestants in a group to see if they do qualify for top 5.

First to announce was #12 Tiana Luan (欒添) from Sydney, then #14 Jennifer Coosemans (朱亞琳) from Vancouver. I was thinking #2 Mint Kongraphan (陳思敏) from Bangkok could lose it but she enters too. Oh my god, 2 more space for 11 contestants. That is cruel!

The camera zoom onto #4 Sophia Wu (巫雪菲) from Nanjing.

In my heart, I’m shouting, #4! Sophia Wu! 巫雪菲! Nanjing! The camera zoom at #4 Sophia Wu (巫雪菲)’s face. Then, they announced #9 Mary Chen (陳舒菲) from New York. Oh god, I like #9 Mary Chen (陳舒菲), but I love #4 Sophia Wu (巫雪菲)! #9 Mary Chen (陳舒菲) was even blocking her face from the camera. Could the male judges take this last precious place and give it to #3 Louisa Mak (麥明詩) from Hong Kong?

Finally, they say #4 Sophia Wu (巫雪菲)! I’m relieved. Everybody was seen was relieved. It will be hard to see her always being in the top 3 to be dropped here. I’m so afraid they will trade her spot with Hong Kong. It looks like all other contestants are happy that #4 Sophia Wu (巫雪菲) gets into top 3, except #3 Louisa Mak (麥明詩) was visibly disappointed.

Now, they are actually going to decide the top 3 ranking based on talent performance.

#2 Mint Kongraphan (陳思敏) from Bangkok sings which didn’t do very well. #4 Sophia Wu (巫雪菲) from Nanjing did ballet dance but most people didn’t know how to appreciate. #9 Mary Chen (陳舒菲) from New York did her cup thing which is interesting to many. She can only speaks English. #12 Tiana Luan (欒添) from Sydney sings and play the piano. #14 Jennifer Coosemans (朱亞琳) from Vancouver did cheerleading but it was boring. I don’t know how important is these talent show but if it counts, #9 Mary Chen (陳舒菲) from New York did gain some points.

Before announcing top 3, they have the contestants supporting the top 5 by giving flowers.

#4 Sophia Wu (巫雪菲) was leading with love until Jennifer Coosemans (朱亞琳) grabbed 3 votes. Thanks #3 Louisa Mak (麥明詩) from Hong Kong and #5 Janice Choong (鍾素敏) from Kuala Lumpur for the support. They saw she’s a nice person and very lovely. Maybe because of their contestants running numbers, they know her very well.

This scene was so warm like contestants hugging a well deserved winner #4 Sophia Wu (巫雪菲).

This is how nervous the contestants look just before the top 3 announcement. Except for #2 Mint Kongraphan (陳思敏) from Bangkok and #4 Sophia Wu (巫雪菲) from Nanjing, the rest were totally breaking down. These 2 cool girls are much better pageant materials.

Before announcing the 2nd runner up, I was hoping that #14 Jennifer Coosemans (朱亞琳) from Vancouver gets it. Then, #4 Sophia Wu (巫雪菲) from Nanjing and #9 Mary Chen (陳舒菲) from New York stands better chance.

The 2nd runner up was announced. #12 Tiana Luan (欒添) from Sydney! She looks so happy but that is disappointing to #9 Mary Chen (陳舒菲) from New York because she looks like she wants to get into top 3. Seriously, I would rather #9 Mary Chen (陳舒菲) takes the 2nd runner up.

Oh god, #9 Mary Chen (陳舒菲) from New York was named the 1st runner up. She was so happy. #4 Sophia Wu (巫雪菲) from Nanjing smiled.

Now, it is between #14 Jennifer Coosemans (朱亞琳) from Vancouver, #2 Mint Kongraphan (陳思敏) from Bangkok and #4 Sophia Wu (巫雪菲) from Nanjing. It is a tough battle for #4 Sophia Wu (巫雪菲), but if you look at the picture here, you know #4 Sophia Wu (巫雪菲) should very well take the crown.

Congratulation #4 Sophia Wu (巫雪菲) from Nanjing for winning the Top 5 finalist in Miss Chinese International Pageant 2016.

Up to this point, I still have lots of faith for #4 Sophia Wu (巫雪菲) from Nanjing to be the winner in 2016國際中華小姐競選 Miss Chinese International Pageant 2016. The male judges could be the savior. Their ranking points were not revealed. Only the top 5 contestants were revealed without their points. Who knows #4 Sophia Wu (巫雪菲) might have the highest point. #2 Mint Kongraphan (陳思敏) from Bangkok look stress. She didn’t expect to end up here. #14 Jennifer Coosemans (朱亞琳) from Vancouver look extremely nervous. For a moment, she thought she could have just lose it all. A girl so beautiful, so pure, so perfect, so elegant, so well deserving is standing right beside her expecting nothing more. Could the male judges swing the votes? What does those talent performance means? We know the answer already. As a fan of #4 Sophia Wu (巫雪菲) from Nanjing, I am delighted to see her superb exceptionally and consistent performance at that night but find the official results hard to accept. Not into top 3? Come on!

From the beginning, the popular ones were Jennifer Coosemans, Mary Chen, Louisa Mak and Sophia Wu. During actual performance, Mary Chen was the only one who really did better than expected. Louisa Mak wasn’t really performing well. Jennifer Coosemans wasn’t that good either. Sophia Wu on the other hand has been pretty consistent. It just doesn’t make sense that Sophia Wu didn’t get into top 3.

Most contestants cheered when #4 Sophia Wu 巫雪菲 from Nanjing was named the last finalist to enter to top 5 in 2016國際中華小姐競選, Miss Chinese International Pageant 2016. Well deserving and well respected top 5.
