Vika Kong 孔芊芊 ATV Miss Asia 2012 pageant / ATV 2012 亞洲小姐
On 21st January, 2013 in Hong Kong, ATV Miss Asia 2012 pageant / ATV 2012 亞洲小姐was held. One of the notable judge was Jean-Claude Van Damme. This year's theme is cyber, so everything was silver like including the stages, dressing, make up, hair styles. The only problem was in these too enthusiast cyber settings, you can't really see the contestants. They all looked like robots.
The first real excitement came when they are ready to eliminate 9 contestants from 18 contestants. Each of them must have at least 77.2 points to qualify to move to the next round. They reveal points all together in groups of 4.

That means Vika Kong would have a 50% chance to qualify top 9. Although, I like Fujian contestant, I would not mind losing her so that Vika Kong has 100% chance of securing the top 9.

Questions and Answers
Now comes the Q&A. This segment determines the top 4. This is usually the best time to kick out heavy favorites on the pretext of speech skills and creativity. Vika Kong did an extraordinary job beating all other contestant.
Just before the top 4 announcements, all 9 finalist lines up and Vika Kong bags the Great Intelligence Award title. This girl has got everything the pageant organizer ever asked for. Vika Kong stands in front and in the middle like the Queen. She is already the winner of Miss Asia 2012. Top 4 is almost a guarantee for her.
The top 4 announcement was a very tense situation. Basically, the highest top 4 points qualifies. But, out of 9 contestants, they will revealed all 8 of them together leaving one out. Guess who? Vika Kong! They are exploiting and making use of Vika Kong to create the atmosphere.

As expected, Amy Chen and Annie Qi secures their top spots. India was strong. The rest were no way near.
Mindy Hsu from Taiwan with 82.2 is supposed to battle with Vika Kong from Jiangxi for the top 4 spots. Even Vika Kong's last score of 84.8 point is sufficient to beat Mindy. Mindy never believe she will survive against Vika Kong. Vika knows her biggest rival are the Hong Kong contestants, not Mindy Hsu.
The score is revealed! Vika Kong scores and amazing 85.2 points! She got the highest point twice in the same pageant. Vika Kong smiled when the scores are revealed. It truly means this is a fair competition, the organizer and judges appreciates her unbeatable qualities and they have no problem telling everyone Vika Kong is the best among all contestants in all areas.

It becomes clear that Vika Kong is already in the top 3 spots. There is no question about this. Who will be out of the top 3 will be a cat to cat survival fight only between Amy Chen, Annie Qi and Svetlana Gulakova. Vika Kong is completely in a different league. Everyone knows it. The judges knows it, the audiences knows it, Vika Kong knows it and all the other contestants know this.
Just before the official announcements, they have a 20 seconds self selling thing which didn't really do anything in my opinion. To everyone, the fight is over and the results are crystal clear.
Just before the final announcements, the MCs were joking among themselves saying that so far the results were expected, well represented and very appropriate. Then, the receive the official results notes and they peaked inside. Their facial expression changed. They seem confused and one even said the placing is a bit mixed up. This is a sign of clear and present danger but for the moment, everyone ignore that.
All 4 contestants were there Amy Chen from Hong Kong, Annie Qi from Hong Kong, Svetlana Gulakova from India our lovely Vika Kong from JiangXi dressed in white like a queen, a pageant winner Queen! They announced Miss Photogenic goes to no other than Vika Kong again! Vika smiled again. The camera zoomed into Vika's perfect face. She smiled like saying "Oh! another one?" There is not a single doubt Vika Kong is Miss Asia 2012.
Before the announcements, expectations among the contestants were clear.
For Vika Kong, a top 3 is guaranteed. It it just impossible for her to not get into top 3. But, pageant organizers typically place super favorites contestants like her as runner ups. So, the longer they hold on to her name, the bigger the trophy. Losing is impossible, it is only a matter of winning which position.
For Svetlana Gulakova, she is already happy that she made it this far. There is nothing to expect.
For Amy Chen and Annie Qi, their job was to get into top 3. Winner is out of reach.
The most anticipated moment has arrived. 2nd Runner-up: Svetlana Gulakova (India). There is a sign of relieve for Vika Kong. Vika is one step closer to take the crown. Having Svetlana Gulakova placed in top 3 internationalized its pageant. There is going to be only one placement left for Hong Kong. It is either Amy Chen or Annie Qi as 1st runner up. In their wildest dream, if Vika Kong is named the 1st runner up, one of them will have the chance to be the winner. But this will be very unlikely. This is the furthest the Hong Kong contestants can go with Vika Kong clearly way ahead of them in many ways. While Vika quietly pray that her name will not be called next, Annie Qi and Amy Chen wants their placement now!
Annie is happy. Amy is going down. Vika is secured.
Vika remained calm and gets ready to take the crown.
1st Runner-Up: Annie Qi (Hong Kong). Annie Qi jumped with joy as if she was won the champion. She manages to take down Amy Chen. Amy Chen will get nothing facing Vika Kong. Vika began to smile and can no longer hide her joy. The crowd cheers for the new queen of Asia - Vika Kong. Amy Chen began secretly congratulating Vika Kong.

It it not possible for Vika Kong who is the top scorers across all levels of competitions all night, the winner of Miss Photogenic and Great Intelligence Award turns lose out in being the top 3. Since the 1st and 2nd runner up were announced, she has got to be Miss Asia 2012. Vika Kong's heart pump very fast for this final moment waiting for applause.
